Bharat Taxi: A New Driver-Owned Alternative to Ola & Uber in India

India’s mobility sector is set for a major shift with the expansion of Bharat Taxi, a cooperative-based digital ride platform designed to benefit drivers directly.

Unlike traditional ride-hailing apps, Bharat Taxi operates on a zero-commission model, ensuring that drivers receive the full fare paid by passengers (excluding taxes). The platform follows a cooperative structure where drivers are also stakeholders.

Currently active in select cities, the service is expected to expand into Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities over the next three years.

Key features include:

• No commission charges for drivers

• Transparent pricing model

• Integration with ONDC-based platforms

• Focus on driver welfare and financial security

This model could emerge as a strong alternative to existing platforms like Ola and Uber.
